<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a white cake recipe, that I swear will become <i>YOUR</i> <i>all time go to!</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's that delicious and has become <i>MY all time go to.</i> I don't even think about trying another recipe to see if it's better. This one is that yummy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What's funny about this little recipe... Is that my <i>sweet husband</i> is the one that wanted to try this recipe in the first place, not me! The original recipe is from, <span style="color: #ea9999;"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/JOY-COOKING-Irma-S-Rombauer/dp/0026045702/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1521210659&sr=8-2&keywords=the+joys+of+cooking"><span style="color: #ea9999;">The Joy of Cooking.</span></a> </span>We just altered a couple of ingredients. What we actually did was make one cake with cake flour and we tried another cake with bread flour to see which was better.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is what we found... BOTH were delicious, but the one made with cake flour was light and fluffy and the one made with bread flour was heavy and dense. No one could decide which was better or which one was their favorite!</div>

After you get the top cut off your cakes. Stack them, with parchment paper in between each layer. This way the layers won't stick together and crumble when your ready to decorate your cake. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Place the cakes in the freezer for a few hours or over night. You want your cake to be cold when frosting and you want your frosting to be at room temperature. Trust me on this. You <b>do not</b> want to decorate your cake with cold frosting or a room temperature cake!</div>

<br />
Hello... My other name is, "Procrastination at its Finest."<br />
Have we met before?!<br />
<br />
One of the reasons I'm telling you this little secret about me...<br />
Is I absolutely love the look of <i>sugared berries </i>and have wanted to try making them for many many many years now! When I say MANY, I'm seriously thinking probably way over 25 years! Now that's some crazy a.. procrastination! Right?<br />
<br />
So when I decided I was going to make a Naked Cake {which I never have made before} for my oldest daughters birthday. I needed something very pretty for the top of the cake and fresh flowers with <i>sugared</i> <i>berries</i> won!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhN0g8O5lXa0PBjEBpK2CaG_wH0lFwrUyS840llp1sbURxmNBbGBvKtfzDjCTAKYGmeVHSCVs0r3O5zsd475FUOvAcQO_66lh3O5UlyP1Q6jV_mQfdAGnpo6F2UUTjfeXL91dgwsOU5wA/s1600/IMG_4585.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhN0g8O5lXa0PBjEBpK2CaG_wH0lFwrUyS840llp1sbURxmNBbGBvKtfzDjCTAKYGmeVHSCVs0r3O5zsd475FUOvAcQO_66lh3O5UlyP1Q6jV_mQfdAGnpo6F2UUTjfeXL91dgwsOU5wA/s640/IMG_4585.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<i><b>Ingredients</b></i><br />
<br />
Fresh blueberries, raspberries and or blackberries<br />
<br />
Egg whites<br />
<br />
Granulated sugar<br />
<br />
Two small bowls | fork and spoon<br />
<br />
Parchment paper or a silpat mat<br />
<br />
<br />
<b><i>Instructions</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
Whisk the egg whites for about 30 seconds.<br />
<br />
Then just gently drop your berries into the egg whites, scoop out with a fork, so the extra egg whites will drip off.<br />
<br />
Then place berries in your granulated sugar and completely coat them with the sugar.<br />
<br />
Place on a tray that is lined with parchment paper or a silpat mat to dry.<br />
<br />
The drying time depends on the size of your berries and the thickness of the egg whites and sugar.<br />
<br />
I made mine the day before I needed them and that worked out perfect.<br />
<br />
The berries really only stay good for about 24 hours | While drying place in a cool area | Do not refrigerator.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG-1ATk9g4I8pyZtnaZO4qH-MSZ2KN6paXOztDLatj5mmW3s6N1Ziq9aiyKGIInU7iKMLu3pXF_ZJsvGPKtZvkwdc_qh4yaJARwar2I05cI7mcnDiYzIzO5UCXB_MUGqKz6mIqIomC8IQ/s1600/IMG_0707.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG-1ATk9g4I8pyZtnaZO4qH-MSZ2KN6paXOztDLatj5mmW3s6N1Ziq9aiyKGIInU7iKMLu3pXF_ZJsvGPKtZvkwdc_qh4yaJARwar2I05cI7mcnDiYzIzO5UCXB_MUGqKz6mIqIomC8IQ/s640/IMG_0707.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
These<i> sugared berries</i> are super easy to make and the crunchy little coating makes them even more delicious!<br />
<br />
I definitely will be making these again, to go on top of some pretty summer desserts. Let me know how your <i>sugared berries </i>turn out and if you have any questions, please ask!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love cake, but I love frosting even more! So with that being said, I have spent the last three hours researching on the internet all the tips, tricks and recipes for a delicious <i>buttercream frosting.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My oldest daughter, Lindsey Nicole has a birthday coming up (she too, loves <i>buttercream frosting</i>) and I want to make her a really pretty and yummy birthday cake from scratch. After scrolling through <i><a href="https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=pretty%20naked%20wedding%20cakes&rs=typed&term_meta[]=pretty%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=naked%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=wedding%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=cakes%7Ctyped">Pinterest</a>, </i>looking and dreaming over all the beautiful cakes, I decided I would try my skills at making a Naked Cake<i>.</i> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lets talk about the <i>buttercream frosting </i>for now though. The Naked Cake Shenanigans will be my next blog post.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is what I learned through all my reading this morning...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Buttercream frosting</i> (<i>BCF) </i> is the frosting of choice for most beginner and professional cake decorators, you may use this creamy deliciousness in the cake fillings, exterior coverings and piped decorations. This simple <i>BCF </i>will form a crust due to the high sugar content, but will be lovely and soft on the inside.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
With the proper storage, you may store your <i>BCF </i>for several months! If you don't plan on using your <i>BCF </i>immediately, then put in an airtight container and place in refrigerator. Avoid placing next to strong fragrant foods, such as fish/onions. There is a chance your <i>BCF </i>could absorb those not so desired scents. Yuck! <i>BCF </i>will keep safely in the refrigerator for six weeks and the freezer for as long as three months. When ready to use, transfer from the freezer to the refrigerator to thaw overnight. Remove <i>BCF</i> from the refrigerator to allow it to come to room temperature before using. You can restore the <i>BCF</i> to its original consistency by stirring with a spatula/spoon. This process works best when the <i>BCF </i>is at room temperature.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Ingredients</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4 sticks or 2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
8 cups powdered sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/2 tsp. salt</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 Tbsp. heavy whipping cream, more if needed for desired texture</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3 tsp. clear vanilla extract</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Instructions</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Beat the room temperature butter on a medium speed for about 30 seconds with the paddle attachment (if using a kitchenAid mixer) until smooth.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Slowly add in the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time. Alternate with small splashes of your heavy whipping cream.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once your <i>BCF </i>is fully mixed, add in the clear vanilla extract/salt and beat on low until the ingredients are completely mixed and the desired consistency is reached. If your <i>BCF </i>is too thick, add more heavy whipping cream, 1 tsp. at a time. If your <i>BCF</i> is too thin, add a little more powdered sugar, 1/4 cup at a time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Extra Tips For Successful Buttercream Frosting</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Again... Make sure butter is at room temperature and all the lumps are completely beaten out before you add your sugar. Also add sugar a little at a time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Try not to over~beat your <i>BCF</i> after all ingredients are added, because you might add bubbles, which could ruin the texture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you want a snowy white<i> BCF</i>, you have to use a professional quality shortening and clear flavors. Butter and pure brown vanilla extract will create a pale ivory frosting, instead of your snowy white.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you are tinting you <i>BCF</i> it is important to let sit for at least 3~4 hours before using, because the colors will deepen over time. If you decorate your cake/cupcakes before ~ it's too late to adjust the colors, if it's not what you wanted!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Using powdered coloring is best. Liquid or gel can sometimes ruin the texture of you <i>BCF.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Use professional quality shortening, if you aren't using butter! It gives you a very nice non~greasy texture. Standard vegetable shortening is <i>NOT </i>ideal to achieve the best results.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh my gosh! Who <i>doesn't</i> love raw cookie dough?! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I don't think we can be true friends if you say <i>no</i>! Ok... Maybe that was just a bit sassy and not true, but really who doesn't love raw cookie dough?!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Edible cookie dough</i> is sooo sweet and delicious. It's like eating the real cookie dough, minus the raw eggs so you can eat this without the worry.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjusrYkQWeErIwVeh3XbRkwh4u4VpBLR_zAoC-gN2zjA_xEwEm9aC38pQlqE9slwijKJvTAJCLE6lYy5n6zO7pzYyGxoi0R8cIKY4QaSZ-KJYqApwN9rFDc0I2UTkM2zC6ZvO8b4Uyepbw/s1600/IMG_0207.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1066" data-original-width="1600" height="425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjusrYkQWeErIwVeh3XbRkwh4u4VpBLR_zAoC-gN2zjA_xEwEm9aC38pQlqE9slwijKJvTAJCLE6lYy5n6zO7pzYyGxoi0R8cIKY4QaSZ-KJYqApwN9rFDc0I2UTkM2zC6ZvO8b4Uyepbw/s640/IMG_0207.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also... Think about all the endless ways you could eat this <i>edible cookie dough</i>!<br />
<br />
For instance... You could put in your cupcakes, brownies, use as a frosting, use as a layer in your ice cream cakes or bars.<br />
<br />
What about using it in your cheesecakes, or making homemade cookie dough ice cream, or just simply eating it plain by itself on a pretty spoon?! That's what I'm doing right now, while writing this post. <br />
<br />
Sometimes it's nice being an adult. You can eat cookie dough for breakfast, lunch or dinner and no one can tell you, that it's not a good idea! Lol<br />

<br />
<br />
<b><i>Ingredients</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
1 cup light brown sugar<br />
<br />
1/4 cup granulated sugar<br />
<br />
1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature<br />
<br />
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract<br />
<br />
1/2 teaspoon salt<br />
<br />
2 cups all purpose flour<br />
<br />
2 tablespoons milk, more if needed (I used almond milk)<br />
<br />
3/4 cup M&M's, more if you want<br />
<br />
<br />
<b><i>Instructions</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
In a large bowl using a hand mixer or a stand mixer, cream together your butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar.<br />
<br />
Mix until fluffy and light in color, about 1 minute.<br />
<br />
Mix in vanilla extract, salt, milk and flour. I mixed the flour in 1/2 cup at a time.<br />
<br />
Stir in your M&M's with a wooden spoon or spatula.<br />
<br />
<b><i>Yields</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
Approximately 3 cups<br />
<br />
<b><i>Notes</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
Store the <i>edible cookie dough</i> in the refrigerator up to 4 weeks. Trust me... It won't last that long!<br />
<br />
You can also keep in freezer to pull out when needed.<br />
<br />
You can also, substitute the M&M's with other candies or sprinkles.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLYGKRhVmPO9Ixdk32hyoiRvaejiYOWqe0S8501erzCkB30sQXxTPZwKZGTYcFkhhr3W9Kh9nMe1tMsjjkFwXUizEPFkosagWg_RwYtO7DfPGjU_cC4kWbg0Fft5fn9s-I650HRd3ajsM/s1600/Cheese+Board.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLYGKRhVmPO9Ixdk32hyoiRvaejiYOWqe0S8501erzCkB30sQXxTPZwKZGTYcFkhhr3W9Kh9nMe1tMsjjkFwXUizEPFkosagWg_RwYtO7DfPGjU_cC4kWbg0Fft5fn9s-I650HRd3ajsM/s640/Cheese+Board.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
First of all... Who seriously doesn't love cheese?!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have never made a cheese board before, but let me just say this. It will now be my go~to for ANY entertaining! Planned or last minute company. What's so great about making a cheese board too... Is that you probably already have half the items you need to make one!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is my idea of a dream meal! I mean, who doesn't love a pretty board or plate full of cheeses, meats, fruits and nuts?!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first step for a fabulous cheese board is to use a pretty wooden/marble cutting board, slate or a chalk board. Keep your eyes open the next time you are in HomeGoods, Marshall's or TJ Maxx! They have really inexpensive ones and lots of pretty choices too. If you use a marble cutting board, place in the refrigerator for awhile. This will keep your items a little colder longer.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When you start assembling your board, think about your colors and how you want them place. Depending on the size of your cutting board you want to have 3~5 cheeses in an assortment of textures & tastes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Your s<i>oft cheeses</i> could be... Brie, Goat Cheese, Camambert, Mozzarella, Humboldt Fog or Saint Andre.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Your <i>semi~soft cheeses </i>could be... Gouda, Stilton, Jarlsberg, Cheddar, Fontina, Havarti and Roquefort.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Your <i>semi~hard cheeses</i> could be... Asiago, Cantal, Gruyere and Manchego.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Your <i>hard cheeses</i> could be... Parmesan, Parmigiano~Reggiano and Pecorino Romano. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once you have your cheeses laid out on your cutting board, you simply just start filling in with all the other delicious items. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are some ideas of what I would use... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
An assortment of gourmet crackers, bruschettini, bread sticks, pretzel crisps, salami, prosciutto, olives, pickles, candied pineapple, candied ginger, red grapes, strawberries, blackberries, figs, almonds, honey roasted pecans, pistachios, fig jam and a alouette spread. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then just add a pretty finishing touch with some sprigs of fresh rosemary. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What's also great about a cheese board! You can make it ahead of time and keep in refrigerator, then pull out right before the party! They also look so fancy with hardly any work at all.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let me know if you have any other favorites you put on your cheese boards. I would love to hear from you!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Remember... Your friends & family are there to visit, not see you run around like a crazy women making things.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thank you for stopping by and staying awhile...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I was looking on <span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #ea9999;"><a href="http://amazon.com/">Amazon</a> </span></span>for <a href="https://www.amazon.com/GG-Scandinavian-Crispbread-3-5-Ounce-Packages/dp/B003G1ZRTY/ref=sr_1_2_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1516141343&sr=1-2&keywords=gg%2Bcrackers&th=1">GG Crackers</a>. I got a little sidetracked and decided to see just how much farmhouse decor Amazon had and I really couldn't believe how many cute items there were! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
Ugh.. Of course clicking on the photo didn't work! I will try and figure out what I did wrong and fix the problem...<br />
<br />
WAIT WHAT?!?! I figured out all by myself how to add a link to the photo! For those of you that know me... You know that is pretty freaking amazing! LoL<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been totally obsessed with making my own nut~butters lately. Not sure if it's because it's way cheaper than buying ready made or if it's just a fun science project.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My first attempt was with a <a href="https://justbecausekatie.blogspot.com/2017/10/homemade-walnut-butter.html"><span style="color: #ea9999;">walnut butter,</span></a> but now I have to say, I like this <i>cashew butter</i> <i>better.</i> Try saying that a few times in a row! Cashew butter better cashew butter better cashew butter better... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ok that's enough! You get where I was going with that. Right?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Maybe the reason I like this butter better is because cashews definitely don't have that lingering after taste that the walnuts have.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz4IxPbthyphenhyphen5YnlvEWnVJ9RbVOUI7dngfBwbyrQv8cPvC_f2E52tRrSFDe_Gupus64JhRWe9C1_UTU4tA52BrsJcydZiFQndi6Tc9Nda3baYh9lcvVRLq5u9ksyoZ2LB3ld8jpw3LZB3Jc/s1600/IMG_9210.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz4IxPbthyphenhyphen5YnlvEWnVJ9RbVOUI7dngfBwbyrQv8cPvC_f2E52tRrSFDe_Gupus64JhRWe9C1_UTU4tA52BrsJcydZiFQndi6Tc9Nda3baYh9lcvVRLq5u9ksyoZ2LB3ld8jpw3LZB3Jc/s640/IMG_9210.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a fast ready in minutes recipe. There are just five simple ingredients!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Ingredients</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
16 oz raw whole cashews, mine were from Trader Joe's</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 tbs. melted/organic coconut oil</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 vanilla bean, all the seeds from inside</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 pinch of pink Himalayan salt</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Instructions</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In a high~powered blender (I used a commercial strength food processor) blend all ingredients to the desired texture. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Total time for me was about 15 minutes. Stopping periodically to scrap the sides and do a little taste testing. This is where you can add more coconut oil, if your butter seems a little dry and more Himalayan salt if you think it's needed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Yields</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Approximately 12 oz or 1.5 cups</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv1rUzPQzJnruesx8Nl1jDMlCkPYKgjTPEA7FzXi3zLZwqNH9sAhopiTOGpNQcBooT4jrjlUK8hA8WgTi41MubXtUFEeexQsvsXdTDVTY5XK-0hVvEbtaU7Hn7vLyaU5mTRtCDVRXJc8E/s1600/IMG_9211.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv1rUzPQzJnruesx8Nl1jDMlCkPYKgjTPEA7FzXi3zLZwqNH9sAhopiTOGpNQcBooT4jrjlUK8hA8WgTi41MubXtUFEeexQsvsXdTDVTY5XK-0hVvEbtaU7Hn7vLyaU5mTRtCDVRXJc8E/s640/IMG_9211.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Notes</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can use roasted cashews, if you prefer. The flavor will be a bit more intense than using the raw cashews.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Store in airtight container in refrigerator.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I actually keep ours on the kitchen island because we like that smooth creamy texture better! I'm also guilty of just eating it right off the spoon! Yum...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It will last longer in the refrigerator, but ours goes pretty quickly around here. So no need to refrigerate. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It will stay good for one month on your counter or three months if kept in refrigerator.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Using the seeds from a vanilla bean really does give it an amazing flavor. Almost like a cookie dough flavor! Omg yum...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hope you will enjoy this <i>cashew butter</i> as much as we do!</div>

I know we live in Florida, but it's still Fall ya'll! So we must do Fall things. Like making homemade soups, burning yummy smelling candles and looking through holiday decorating and baking magazines. Oh... That makes me very very happy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a super fast and very easy recipe!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Ingredients</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4 Tbsp. olive oil</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/2 of a large yellow onion, chopped</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4 cups kale, chopped and stems removed</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5 cups low~sodium chicken broth</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Directions</i></b><br />
<br />
Heat olive oil in large cast iron skillet over medium heat. You can also use a large pot if you don't have a cast iron skillet.<br />
<br />
Add your chopped onion and sauté until tender.<br />
<br />
Add your kale, low~sodium chicken broth and simmer until the kale wilts.<br />
<br />
Add your cannellini beans.<br />
<br />
Then puree in blender or food processor. This is where you can taste and season to your liking with salt, pepper, your favorite seasoning blend or I used a touch of my <a href="http://www.pauladeen.com/house-seasoning"><span style="color: #ea9999;">Paula Dean's House Seasoning.</span></a> If you think it's a bit too salty just add a little water. Easy Peasy!<br />
<br />
Pour into bowls and garnish with pumpkin seeds.<br />
<br />
Serves 4<br />
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I like to read a lot about skin care and beauty products. I'm seriously obsessed with all things <i>girly</i>! Just ask my sweet hubby. Our bathroom looks like a department store cosmetic counter and our shower looks like you stepped into a spa with many many choices of shampoos, conditioners, scrubs, soaps, facial cleansers, shaving creams, loofas, razors and much more!<br />
<br />
So when I started reading about this thing, called <i>Dry Brushing. </i>I knew I had to try it! My next step was to order one from <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Dry-Skin-Body-Brush-Circulation/dp/B00LIBEBTG/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1509054783&sr=1-4&keywords=dry+brushing+body+brush">Amazon</a><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="background-color: white;"> This one is perfect, if you have someone to get your back for you, but not everyone does. This </span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #ea9999;"><i><span style="color: #ea9999;"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Wholesome-Beauty-Removable-11-Inch-Handle/dp/B00LIBEDC6/ref=sr_1_7_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1509024999&sr=1-7&keywords=dry+brushing+body+brush">Dry Brush with Removable Handle</a></span></i> </span></span></span><span style="background-color: white;">would really be the perfect one to purchase. I'm thinking that I will be ordering that one very soon. The hubby is not always around when I want to treat my skin to a little brushing.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">When I stumbled across the article about <i>Dry Brushing</i> I was totally amazed at the </span>benefits it provides to you. Not even mentioning how wonderful it feels! So lets talk about those benefits for a bit.<br />
<br />
<b><i>So What is Dry Brushing?</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
It's exactly what is sounds like... You're brushing your skin in a particular pattern with a <i>dry brush</i>, preferably right before you shower.<br />
<br />
<b><i>The Many Benefits of Dry Brushing.</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
Stimulates the lymphatic system, which plays a major role in our immune system. When you <i>dry brush</i> your skin you are improving your circulation which helps in delivering oxygenated blood to the skin and other organs to help them do their jobs better. In return for this it helps the body detoxify naturally, which helps to prevent and fight disease.<br />
<br />
Exfoliates and improves the appearance of the skin. <i>Dry Brushing </i>removes the dead skin and impurities from the surface of your skin, clears your pores and stimulates the natural production of sebum, resulting in smoother more radiant skin. Who doesn't want that?!<br />
<br />
Regular <i>Dry Brushing</i> helps reduce the formation of cellulite by stimulating the circulation. This helps distribute the fatty deposits throughout your body. Here's the key words <i>"helps reduce"</i> NOT <i>"get rid of".</i><br />
<br />
Improves digestion and kidney function.<br />
<br />
Stress relief.<br />
<br />
<b><i>Choosing the Right Dry Brush.</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
Make sure you choose a natural bristle brush not synthetic. Remember after using mine for awhile I realized it would have been a much better idea to have chosen a brush with a long handle.<br />
<br />
<b><i>How to Dry Brush your Skin.</i></b><br />
<br />
<i>Dry Brushing </i>should be done daily for best results. Mornings are best because the brushing will energize and invigorate you. Always brush before your shower or bath.<br />
Start at the bottom of your feet making small circular movements with your brush, gradually working up your legs. You can do circular movements or long brush strokes, whichever you prefer.<br />
It is important to <i>always</i> brush towards the direction of your heart.<br />
Repeat the same process with your hands (starting with the palms) and arms.<br />
On the stomach, back and armpits make circular motions.<br />
Don't forget the backs of your knees and neck.<br />
<br />
<b><i>Notes and Thoughts on Dry Brushing.</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
Always brush on dry skin.<br />
My skin is slightly pink after brushing. If your skin is red or it stings use less pressure (avoid scrubbing). Remember <i>Dry Brushing </i>should never hurt!<br />
<br />
You should use gentle pressure while brushing towards your heart. You can brush for as long or as little as you like. The average brushing session can be anywhere from two ~ twenty minutes.<br />
<br />
Be sure to apply lotion after your shower to put moisture back into your skin.<br />
<br />
<br />
Happy brushing and please let me know if you try this or have tried it. I would love to hear your thoughts or opinions on this subject.<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For awhile now, I have been really wanting to make my own almond, cashew and/or walnut butter. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I know a lot of people (my husband being one of them) are <i>not</i> big lovers of walnuts. They have this lingering after taste, that you just might not like. I don't mind it, but I do know what they are talking about.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But here's the thing about walnuts... That make them a fabulous nut to choose. Walnuts are rich in Omega~3 fats and antioxidants! Walnuts also have the ability to improve your metabolism, help in controlling diabetes and help as a mood booster. I'm thinking we all could use a little bit of help in that department. Because life can be really hard at times. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can't go wrong in choosing walnuts to eat as a snack, sprinkle on a salad or just making a walnut butter to go on your apples or toast in the morning. Maybe even try spreading walnut butter on a rice cake with chopped apples on top and sprinkled with cinnamon. Yum!<br />

I grew up eating raw cookie dough and still love it to this very day! If the truth be told, I probably prefer the raw dough over the actual baked cookie. I also passed that trait along to my two daughters. I can remember years ago, just keeping raw dough in the refrigerator for us to scoop a spoonful from time to time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I found this recipe a few months back while obsessing over all the pretty and yummy photos on <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/KatieZiggas/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #f4cccc;">Pinterest. </span></a> This recipe comes from an amazing food blogger and author, her name is <span style="color: #f4cccc;"><a href="http://www.yummymummykitchen.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #f4cccc;">Marina of the Yummy Mummy Kitchen.</span></a> </span>I actually have been following her for years now. Her photos, recipes, sweet girls and trips to Italy are amazing. She even has a chicken coop! Ugh... My dream come true...</div>

These no~bake vegan chocolate chip cookie dough bites are ready in minutes! They are made with just seven real and pure simple ingredients.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Ingredients</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 cup almond flour</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/8 tsp. sea salt</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

If by chance your dough is too dry to stick together you can add 1 tsp. of water.</div>

Now your ready to roll your dough into tablespoon sized balls. </div>

<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Welcome to my first blog post in over three years!<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been thinking for awhile now, that I wanted to start blogging again! About all the things that I <i>love</i> and for those of you that already know me. You know I <i>love</i> to read cookbooks & recipes like it's a fabulous old novel. I know I know... Sounds a bit strange, but when I stumbled upon this recipe, it sounded way too yummy not to try it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We had this <i>Brussel Sprouts Salad with Chicken</i> for dinner a couple of nights ago <i>(loved it), </i>then for the next two days, I brought the leftovers to work for my lunch. Still <i>loved it </i>and so did a couple of my co~workers!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i></i>So... With that being said, I felt the need to share this recipe with you! I found the recipe in September's issue of my <a href="https://www.cleaneatingmag.com/recipes/brussels-sprouts-salad-with-chicken-recipe"><span style="color: #f4cccc;">Clean Eating Magazine.</span></a> Just click on the link and it will take you right to the recipe.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hope you enjoy this dish as much as we did!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Oh my... I honestly can't believe I have not blogged or posted any pictures in almost, but not quite 3 years! I'm totally surprised I could even find the blog again or even figure out how to write a post with pictures. Well... it's not published yet. So that is still to be determined! Those of you that know me... Know this will be a big accomplishment with a lot of swear words rolling off this tongue of mine...<br />

I'm not exactly sure why I stopped blogging because I did love it, and their hasn't been a week gone by that I didn't think or say to someone "I'm going to start blogging again very soon. Really... I am! Seriously... I am going to very soon!" I also, have taken hundreds of photos thinking to myself and out loud, that when I do start blogging again these will be great! Funny thing now is the computer that most of the photos are on doesn't work and probably never will again...<br />

This little blog will once again be about the people and things in my life that I love, adore and are very passionate about. It will also have projects that turn out fabulous and some that don't turn out so fabulous, but that's ok! My hopes are that his blog will offer you something good or help you in some small way...<br />

I thought I would try and be productive today, with a project I have been thinking about for many years... My oldest daughter, Lindsey, will be graduating from college this December. So of course, we have to have a party, to let her know how very proud we are of her! This party will be in our home, and that means for the next few weeks I will be tackling some way over due projects... </div>

I have many fabulous thrift stores near me, but this one particular store always has great items! There are four things I don't like about the store, but still so worth going to... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. They are a cash ONLY business.<br />
2. You have to wait a bit for a MUST have shopping cart.<br />
3. NO fitting rooms.<br />
4. You so NEED a shower after leaving!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let me tell you what happened the last time I was there. I don't know whether to be sad and cry or just be thrilled with the money I saved! They have a senior discount day, and what that means is...Anyone 55 and over, gets 50% off their entire purchase! So... Guess who received that discount?! ME! I did not ask for said discount and the cashier did not ask for ID, she just gave me the 50% off! I'm going to go with the idea... she was doing me a sweet favor and saving me money. NOT holy shut the front door... I look 55!<br />
<br />

For those of you that know me... I'm more of a magazine girl because I love all the photos! I love getting inspired to decorate, sew, paint, bake and/or garden from all of those very fun and enticing pictures...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
With that being said, I have decided to expand my horizons and actually start reading real books. Hhmmm... "Real Books?" Is there such a thing as a "Not Real Book?"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I went away last month on <a href="http://www.justbecausekatie.blogspot.com/2012/09/in-preparation-for-girl-time.html">"My Girl's Trip,"</a> one of our many conversations was about a book called, <a href="http://www.oprah.com/blogs/Book-of-the-Week-Tiny-Beautful-Things">Tiny Beautiful Things written by Cheryl Strayed.</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlyebOwkkYQ3BGZgL6f8cRamxjz121iPzOSy4X5_wzJ9YMhWsMzqAI2m-7CVFtnhhh3mHaECEeoSiZ9WwFLCktYs9cJWUB_LGm7oJ4N1hSCmii71kbMshjgmsQZCOAlBtTsW5A3Is_ulk/s1600/tiny-beautiful-things1-663x1024-500x500.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlyebOwkkYQ3BGZgL6f8cRamxjz121iPzOSy4X5_wzJ9YMhWsMzqAI2m-7CVFtnhhh3mHaECEeoSiZ9WwFLCktYs9cJWUB_LGm7oJ4N1hSCmii71kbMshjgmsQZCOAlBtTsW5A3Is_ulk/s400/tiny-beautiful-things1-663x1024-500x500.png" width="250" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a book giving advice on love and life from someone called, Dear Sugar (which is actually Cheryl Strayed). She has an advice column on a literary website called, <a href="http://therumpus.net/sections/blogs/dear-sugar/">The Rumpus.</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just a little warning though...when she writes back to her "Sweet Peas," she does not sugarcoat one thing! She tells it like it is, sometimes giving examples from her not so "Story Book Life." </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">I'm bringing lots of magazines to catch up on, and will try very hard to throw away when finished (wink wink). I also, bought a Nook Tablet this week. Hoping to cut down on my books, magazines and movies around the house. This is my first step in decluttering my life. I'm still wondering if I should have just spent the money for an IPad2. Ugh! My receipt says I have 14 days to change my mind...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</span> <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I just ate this for breakfast and totally had to share with you! Not with ice cream silly, that would be too crazy! I'm looking at it from this angle, blueberries are loaded with lots of antioxidants. So that makes this cobbler a nutritious and healthy choice. Right?! </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b><br />
</b></span> <b><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Ingredients...</span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> 2 cups fresh and washed blueberries</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> 3/4 cup sugar<br />
2 tablespoons butter, melted</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> 2/3 cup all~purpose flour<br />
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder<br />
1/4 teaspoon salt<br />
2/3 cup milk</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <b><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Directions...</span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Sprinkle the blueberries into a well~greased 8"x8" baking dish. In a small bowl, combine sugar and butter with a fork, until mixture is crumbly. In another small bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt, mix well. Now add this mixture to the sugar alternating with the milk. Pour over the blueberries.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or until you can see some golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or maybe a little whipped cream.</span><br />

I have wanted to learn how to take really fabulous photos. I have a notebook filled with "How to Techniques," nothing fancy or really organized. Just clippings of what I think I need to know. Such as... accessories that I must have, editing tips, lighting tips, posing tips,how to use Photoshop tips, and even a pattern on how to sew a pretty camera strap.</div><div style="text-align: center;"> Complete chaos is going on inside this notebook and now to add to that chaos I have a <a href="http://pinterest.com/katiekfoss/">Pinterest</a> board labeled <a href="http://pinterest.com/katiekfoss/photography/">"Photography"</a> with waaay more tips, directions, and must haves...</div><div style="text-align: center;">So this is what I'm thinking in this crazy head of mine... Throughout the week I will be trying to teach myself something to do with fabulous photo taking. Then on Sundays. Hence the title ~ I will post some photos and tell you what I have learned or the mistakes I have made.</div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">This is a frangipani tree. They are very easy to grow! Their flowers come in lots of colors. Pinks, reds, yellows, whites, and I have even seen 2 different colors on one tree! It's a slow growing tree, but well worth the wait. They also are very easy to start on your own. By just breaking off a branch, and putting in the ground. Some say you must let the branch dry out for a few days first, but I have done both ways, with the same great results. I probably have 6 of these trees around my yard, and haven't had to buy one yet...</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
